The Jade Emperor Pagoda and The Women's Museum on a rainy day and a night at the opera.

We have been gone from Saigon for a day and a half because we went on a tour of some small villages and then to Can Tho to see the floating market. I'll post about that separately.

Two days ago we woke to gray skies and light rain. Since we had not yet visited the Jade Emperor Pagoda and the distance was too far to walk, especially in the rain, we caught a taxi and off we went.

The small and murky turtle pond.

Many sticks of incense, both outside and inside the pagoda.

The inside of the pagoda is wild, huge and small icons everywhere, hundreds of incense sticks burning, and strange disco type lights.

A few street scenes -

We had lunch at a very pretty place called "Suoi Da" which means "rock pool" or "waterfall"

We then went to The Women's Museum - Women's Museum of Southern Vietnam was established to recognise the cultural and military contributions of the women of South Vietnam over the ages.
The museum was mainly about women who had fought in the second world war and in the Vietnam War (which they call "the American War). I was hoping there would be more about the culture and roll of women in Vietnam in general, but so much of it featured the wars and the women who were either killed in combat, or died in prison.

That evening we went to the Saigon Opera house and saw Teh Dar, which was amazing but a little hard to describe. Here is a link to the video:
