Paris day eight - not the Louvre, the Rodin instead

Since the Louvre stays open late on Wednesdays and Fridays, until 9:30pm, we decided to put it off until tomorrow. Also, I still need some time to recuperate after all those stairs at Notre Dame yesterday. I also have a cold so I'm not sleeping well and I'm tired. We tackle the Louvre tomorrow.

We have been wanting to see the Rodin Museum and gardens since we came here, and at only about a 30 minute walk away, decided now would be a good time to go and to walk instead of taking the Metro, the morning was still cool (although it got hotter later in the day).

The grounds are beautiful, tranquil, and there are rose bushes everywhere.

I had Don take a picture because the roses are two different colors, yellow ones and the big one was white fading to pink.
This is called "The Three Shades" and is part of the "Gates to Hell" series based on Dante's "Divine Comedy"

This is a tribute to Victor Hugo and shows him here struggling with the muses.

 The Thinker!

 Orphan of Alsace

One of the many representations of Balzac. I'm pretty sure that Agustus Rodin did not like that guy.
 The Secret.
 The Cathredal.
 One side...
 and the other side.
Don likes this picture because it looks as if she is gazing outside.
 There was one Renoir
 A couple of Picassos.

 "Lovers hands"

Honore de Balzac. See? Rodin just didn't like the guy. That's my theory and I'm sticking with it.

A jade sculpture by Camille Claudel. Her life was a very sad one, she spent the last 30 years of her life in an asylum, even though the doctors implored her mother and brother to allow her to leave. She suffered from a mental illness, but not so much that she couldn't take care of herself. Her mother never visited her there and her brother only saw her 7 times in 30 years. They were most likely very upset over her affair with Rodin.
A painting by Edvard Munch. You know, that guy who painted "The Scream"?
And this is me, looking very happy because I had a very tasty dinner of fried ramen with crisp vegetables at a Vietnamese cafe.

It's very hot outside (we took the Metro back instead of walking) and we're spending the rest of the day doing laundry (because we can't seem to keep from spilling food on our clothing) and other little chores (like writing this blog!). Tomorrow will be a very arty day, all day, at the Louvre.
